coloring

I've been trying to color with DS for months now.  He is not interested at all.  Well, other than wanting to eat the crayons or bang them on the table.

What age do they usual color, or attempt to color or do any crafts?  I feel like its nowhere in sight for us.

Re: coloring

  • My daughter was probably about a year at 3 she got serious about it and has loved crafts ever since. My son? Never he still hates to color at 4, but he does like to write letters so I don't really care.

  • C really got into around 3 yo or so. L loves it because sister loves it, she is started to enjoy drawing on her own now at just over 2.

  • My 3 year old still doesn't really like to color.  He does love to paint though.  Have you tried that?  I take a big piece of easel paper and tape it to the table and let him go nuts.

  • DS started getting into coloring around 18 months. Before then he really just threw or ate the crayons. At 20 months he started a weekly art class and now he loves to paint too and does well with the paint brush.

  • My 4 year old son likes to color but hated it until like 4 and a half. My 2 and a half year old son likes to color too.
  • Thanks for all of the ideas on painting.  I'm going to try that!

Gastro- fabulous idea  about wrapping presents with the artwork!
