Were you when you were born?
So I just found out I was a little over 10lbs. when I was born....I'm bumping mobile but I would love to insert a SUPER shocked face here.
My mom swears that big babies run in our family as my grandmothers smallest baby was 10lbs. I'm trying my hardest to eat healthy and watch my weight as I have always been pretty active and in a healthy weight range. A 10lbs. baby is not normal right? My mom had a normal pregnancy with me and didn't develop GD.
Is your baby's weight hereditary? I'm a little freaked that's all...
Re: How big?
I was 7 pounds and change.
I think it depends on the baby. There can certainly be healthy 10 pound babies. I have a friend who had one. The baby was also long/tall, so proportionate.
When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.

Baby's weight is hereditary. So I'd be asking DH how big he was!
And 10 lbs is a normal healthy sized baby.
Your dr should only be concerned about it if you are small in the pelvis. I believe that 11 lbs is the weight when they start considering scheduling a c-sect.
10lbs. is normal? Wow.
Im a FTM so this is all new and scary for me LOL
DD was 5 lbs 3 oz. DS was 6 lbs 14oz. Both born at 38 weeks.
My husband was late and was 12 lbs. my MIL had no epi. But he was her 3rd child, so things had stretched a bit. Lol.
My son was born at 41 weeks and was 9 lbs. I am normally 5' 4" and 140 lbs. so I'm not a big girl...just average. Labor and delivery was a dream. I pushed for maybe 10 or 15 minutes!
While there are always exceptions, a lot of times your body just takes over and delivers that baby! Of course, there are always some cases where a little help is needed! Don't stress FTMs! My sons birthday was the most amazing day of my life and I can't wait to do it again.
MH was 910lbs and so were his siblings.
I just feel like to me 10lbs seems so big. Hopefully it's in between! Kidding I'll be happy with healthy!
10 pounds seems big to me! Ouch!
Ummm... I completely disagree. 10 lbs is on the high end of normal weight. Most full term babies are between 7 and 9 lbs. this is our 5th and they were all different
1st 9lbs 2 oz
2nd 8lbs 10 oz
3rd 6 lbs 12 oz
4th 5 lbs 6 oz
All full term except for 3. She was two weeks early. All of them have been completely healthy. I had no gd or other issues. The funniest thing is that 4 was the smallest but the only one without jaundice
10lbs is a big baby, however I know women who delivered 10lb plus babies vaginally with no tearing. I hope if your LO is that big, you have an easy time like they did.
My mother said me and my brother were either 6 pounds even, or 6 pounds 1 ounce. She honestly couldn't remember which weight was whose.
As for my maternal grandmother's children, they were all mid-4pounders, and the heaviest was slightly over five pounds. Since I'm not very big at 17 weeks, I'm guessing I'll have a smaller baby (around 6 pounds). But who knows?
I was almost 8 pounds. My son was 8lbs 4ozs.
Generally a baby takes after the mother's birth weight.
I was 8 lb 6 oz I believe. and 10 lb is still in the normal range as far as I know...
Oh God...
I weighed 8 lbs at birth, 38 weeks
DD was 10 lbs at 41 weeks. My OB kept insisting she wouldn't be too big and was estimating 8 lbs. I'm not a big person, 5"5 and 135 lbs, so this was not what I was expecting. I had to have a c-section due to her size/position and my inability to push her out. I did not have GD or any other issues.
I 100% do not believe the statement "Your body won't grow a baby that's to big for you to push out". Not true at all.

Patiently waiting for little brother!
I was 10lbs when I was born, too.
DS was 8lb 2oz, born 40wks, 2 days.
I think heredity has some to do with it, and its influenced on how big you and DH are. Every baby is different though. My mom had a 5,7,8 & 10 lb baby!
I was right under 10lbs, 22" long (I've grown approximately 3ft and 4in my ENTIRE life, lol).
Hubs was smaller - I believe his mom said he was on the low 7lb range.
Hopefully this kid takes after dad. But with that being said I was born at 41 weeks and my mother ate through house & home while pg with me.
Average size baby according to baby center at 40 weeks is 7 and a half pounds. Which corresponds to what I've read as well. I've read 7 pounds 7 ounces as being average. Also, you do have to remember when they are born.
with that said..I was 5 pounds when born. Dd was 8 pounds 3 ounces at 38 weeks and DS was 9 pounds 7 ounces at 39 weeks.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
"small" runs on my mom's side. "HUGE" runs on my dad's side.
me and my siblings were small.
MH was also small BUT he had a HUGE head.
DS was small with a normal head.
Number two? I am scared of the possibilities but I will hope for the best again lol
I was 6 and change, now im 5'4, 115 lbs, my in laws keep telling me i better get ready cuz MIL had 2, 9lb babies and SIL had and 8, a 9 and a 10 lb kid. It really pisses me off cuz they think this baby will be nothing like me and my family.
