sitter city or care.com?

We are looking for a babysitter, did anyone have luck with sittercity or car.com.

Also how long did it take you to find someone?

TIA

Re: sitter city or care.com?

  • I have hired 2 great nannies through care.com.  You still need to do interviews, reference checks, and background checks, but care.com is a great place to start.  There are great search features.  During our first hiring, we reviewed maybe a hundred profiles, talked to maybe 2 dozen on the phone and then interviewed 8 - all facilitated by care.com.  It is worth the monthly or yearly fee in my opinion.  It took us about 5 to 6 weeks from the time we put up our ad.  Many of the applicants were willing to start asap, but because it was our first, we spent a lot of time.

The second time around (our first beloved nanny moved across the state with her fiance) we narrowed down the ad responses very quickly because we knew we were looking for someone similar to our first nanny.

  • Great experience with care.com. Had nanny for 2 years. Although she no longer works for us, she has remained involved in our life.
