Cloth diaper ?

Thought I would ask here first. Lo has an ear infection and the flu. Sad He is on tamiflu and amoxicillian(sp?). Should i just put him in a disposable? I thought I heard somewhere that you shouldn't use cloth when they are on antibiotics. Not sure if this is true. Thanks

Re: Cloth diaper ?

  • I'd ask the CD board...

  • I would suggest using disposables or a liner until he is off of the medicine. Med stains are a PITA to get out.
  • hmm... staining wouuld be the only concern... it wouldn't cause repelling.

DD was only on antibiotics once and we had no stains...

You could check on the CD board.

  • The other issue with antibiotics and CDs is that sometimes your LO can end up with a yeast infection as a result of the antibiotic. If that happens, you'll have to bleach your cloth to kill the yeast in it. DS had 6 ear infections from Sept to Jan and was on an antibiotic each time. The only time he ended up with a yeast rash was in September before we started CDing. Never had any issues with staining though.

  • I already asked the CD board last week because DD is on amoxicillin and we CD. It has been known to cause staining in some cases, but DD has been taking amoxi since this past Friday and we've had no issues with staining.

    Edit: bump burp...

Forgot about the possibility of issues with yeast too...We never had issues with it, but I've read that it can happen.

  • I do know that antibiotics can cause diarrhea.

My LO was on amoxicillian and we CD. I didn't know that it wasn't a good idea to CD during that time! So if it is... oops. We didn't have problems except a few loose stools.
