A few questions... clueless about all this!!
1. Do all of your babies drink out of a straw cup? Julia drinks just fine out of a sippy, but hasn't quite figured out the straw thing yet... wondering if she should have done that by now.
2. Is there any reason for her to try different types of sippy cups, or is using the same type for a while okay?
3. Are babies supposed to be off bottles by a year?
Thanks so much!
Re: Speaking of sippy cups and straw cups...
1. my baby hates the sippy cup and will drink off of a straw only when we take it out of the cup and have our finger over the other end (you know so you trap the liquid and then let it flow into their mouths?) she doesn't get the sucking out of a straw yet
2. no, use the one that works for ya. If you can teach them to use it with out the "no spill" part its easier to transition to a regular cup
3. um, ideally sure they are off the bottle at 1. realistically, do what you can...
good luck :-)
my read shelf:
1. Do all of your babies drink out of a straw cup? C has only used a straw a few times, and I think she still prefers the regular sippy cups for now.
2. Is there any reason for her to try different types of sippy cups, or is using the same type for a while okay? Just to get use to them I think.
3. Are babies supposed to be off bottles by a year? Our pedi wanted my older DD to be off of bottles by the time she was a year old. I remember getting rid of the bottle at or around 13 months old.
All of this!
1. DD does, but it's what she prefers. She found one of her brother's straw cups on the floor one day and now drinks out of them regularly. DS didn't start drinking out of a straw cup until after he was 18 months old.
2. I say go with what works.
3. According to TB, yes. IRL, I know plenty of kids who didn't get off the bottle until around 18 months and they are now fully functioning children.
