DH and I got married in August, and we have been trying to plan a trip to the Caribbean in May-ish. At first, my parents were going to fly over from Europe to take care of the twins, but that fell through. Now we've been planning on taking them with us - they will be 13 months old then. We've been trying to find an all-inclusive resort in a safe island, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. But would that even be a vacation? We could never do anything together, like snorkeling or diving or whatever, since one would always be on the sidelines taking care of our girls. And I don't know if I could trust the babysitting services, unless it were a really nice resort with trained sitters, but we really have to worry about the cost so we can't go all Ritz-Carlton in St. Lucia or anything.
Should we just give up and go later, when we can go alone? I was starting to look forward to taking the girls, but I don't want a boring, sad honeymoon..
Re: Honeymoon with twins: crazypants?
LOL I was going to say "Don't call it a honeymoon" but pp is kinda right - that would not really be consistent with the spirit of the word "vacation"! The only way I can see to make it enjoyable is to bring someone who could babysit - like a trusted family member or friend. Of course that significantly ups the expenses but maybe you could work out a deal where you pay for just airfare in exchange for some babysitting?

Another vote for this. We've taken a few trips with DD and they were far from a 'vacation'. And there's only one of her. I'd wait.

There was a MEME thing on pinterest that would sum up my response to this question.
You know you're a mom when going to Target by yourself feels like a vacation, and a family vacation feels like work.

Yeah, I wouldn't consider that a vacation or a honeymoon.
What if you all flew to Europe, left the girls with your parents and you two went somewhere for a true HM?
