I feel so bad! we have been bed-sharing for the second half of the night for 9 months and she always sleeps right near me. Last night she kept trying to climb on me so i scooted her a little farther away. When she rolls around she always rolls closer to me, not farther away, so i have never been worried about her rolling off the side of the bed. Around 3 am i awoke to the sound of her hitting the side of the nightstand. then a few seconds of silence. and then wailing. I jumped up and picked her up off the floor and cuddled her, gave her back her binky, and she stopped crying after about a minute. i dont even think she woke all the way up. seems perfectly fine today. poor thing, i never got bed rails or anything and now i think we will stop bedsharing. i really love sleeping with her but honestly i have missed having my husband in bed (he's been sleeping on the couch). maybe this is the little push i need to start getting her to spend the whole night in her crib. After she fell out of bed i put her in her crib and she woke up at 7:00am happy as could be. didnt cry like she normally does when she wakes up in her crib in the middle of the night. that was a scary feeling though to hear her hit the ground : (

It sounds like your LO is getting too mobile to bedshare.
Is your husband ok with sleeping on the couch for 9 months?!
DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
We bedshare and DH doesn't sleep on the couch... DD sleeps between us (but like yours, always rolls closer to me) I wouldn't be comfortable having her on the side, and when DH travels for work I push the bed against the wall.
But, my DD also fell off the bed, at about 5 months old. Also hit the nightstand, then the floor. I watched it happen - it was the most sickening thing to see! My own fault, she was sitting on the bed and I turned away for a second to turn on the fan. But she was fine, and I'm sure your DD is too.
