Beca's post about Easter being 40 days away reminded me of this issue . . .
Does anyone else have this problem where family members buy your kids outfits or dresses for holidays?
I hate it, but I feel bad telling them to stop. My mom has bought Tatum fancy dresses the last two years before Thanksgiving, and given them to me as "her Christmas dress." And while they have been cute dresses that I had no problem dressing her in, they're definitely not what I would've picked out.
Re: Holiday outfits
My experience is that people will stop buying clothes for your kids around 2 years old. So this is probably the last year you will have to deal with it.
ETA: I once had a creepy old man coworker who bought a dress for Ls first Easter. It was big poofy, pale pink with pearl beads and lace all over. Nms
A lot of people buy clothes for my girls, which I actually love as it helps our blothing budget
, but they have never tried to buy a special occasion dress without my input. MIL bought DD2 her dress for SIL's wedding, but we shopped for it together and found something we both really loved. My mom likes to sew the girls Easter dresses, but again, we pick out fabric/pattern together.
Maybe that's an option if your mom really wants to buy Christmas/Easter dresses? Shop together so you get a say?

My mom is the same way. B ended up having three Christmas outfits last year. My mom bought two and a coworker bought the other one. My mom insisted on buying her Easter dress last year, but I told her I wanted to pick it. She got her a Christmas outfit this year as well. People just really love buying clothes for babies!
I ohhh and ahhh over little girl holiday dresses all the time so I can see how it would be hard not to buy them if I was a grandma lol. Can you suggest going shopping together for holiday dresses? Maybe make it a girls date for all 3 of you. That way you get input and some savings. Could be a fun tradition for 3 generations.
