Blocks. I just bought a basic wooden set. He LOVES them! He loves it when I build towers and he gets to knock them down. He loves to chew them and bang them on stuff. He loves trying to see how many he can pick up at one time. They are hands-down his favorite toys.
Second place is the remote. We bought him his own TV remote for a few bucks off of Amazon (I just bought the cheapest new one we could find). We pretend to use it every now and then so he knows it's "real" because you better believe he can tell the difference lol.
He seems to ignore all of the big expensive toys we bought him. He does really like the play and learn table that was handed down to us but mostly he just loves pulling all of my pots and pans out of the cupboard or pulling the newspaper out of the recycling bin.
I like the teethers that you can freeze, and my baby girl's idea of a really good time is anything that she can put in her mouth. I especially like the teether purse. It looks like she is chewing on her purse.

Right now her favorite toys are her fisher price laugh and learn tea set, brown bear brown bear story book ( i read this at least 4 times in the evening after daycare lol), her my first plush doll and her little tikes activity garden. She also loves anything she can pull herself up on, could be a box of pampers, the wall, a chair lol!!!!!
She LOVES books and magazines. She loves flipping through the pages and looking at the pictures. She loves going through her bookshelf pulling out books and then she will hand them to me to read to her. She would much rather play with books than toys.

My kiddo is loving his activity ball. I looked up exactly what one he has, it's the Bright Starts Clack and Slide Activity Ball. It was cheap (under $10) but it's easy for him to pick up and wave around and it makes noise and is full of colors and textures he likes to chew on since he's teething. He's also got a wooden Plan Toys rainbow colored roller rattle he likes. Again, it's easy to gnaw!
If I'm playing with him, my brother and SIL bought his the really beautiful Pacific Northwest tribes salmon puppet with really lovely native designs in white, black, bright blue and red. He'll laugh and laugh if I get it out and play with him.
I bought some electronic stuff, a piano, some learning toys, that dreadful singing soccer ball and he's ok with them but he seems to like the other stuff better for now.
And none of it is better than zippers on our clothes or my glasses. Hot pink and black glasses with rhinestones on the corners were a much better idea before I had a baby.
Re: Reccomend your Favorite Toys
The super creepy fisher price laugh and learn puppy is his current fave

#1 blocks and legos, they love stacking and holding throwing and biting them.
#2 fake/old cell phones they LOVE pressing the buttons an putting them to their ear to say hello.
#3 stuffed animals they like to cuddle them when they get sleepy, before nap and bed time.
#4 keyboard, guitars, and recorders. they LOVE making music.
She likes her pink Evenflo Exersaucer.
And Walmart is a good place to get small toys. I like the Vtech baby toys.

Honestly all her favorites are not "official" toys.
1) A remote control (she has her own that is the same as the real one without batteries)
2) My old out of service Blackberry cell phone.
3) Her portable white noise machine that we have taken out of the stuffed lamb it comes with.
Otherwise she like stacking cups, books, balls, sophie the giraffe and her walking cart
He prefers his stacking cups.
He also plays with his Chase and Race Town-He loves watching the cars on the track and also plays with them individually.
Books are also a big thing for him.
Little tikes push walker
Blocks
Stacking cups
Balls
Remote control
Empty tube of vaseline
Pink rubber duck for chewing on
She also really has gotten into her soft toys, stuffed animals, dolly and monkey
Two little cas that she loves pushing around the tiles
