This may be TMI.. but who is still able to squirt? I can! Not far or in a large amount...but I am surprised there is still a sticky substance; it has been three months to the day since I have nursed! What is the deal? Is this normal?
Hypo, if you see this, I remember you posting back in the day about a bacteria that the baby is covered during delivering that aids in the BFing process. I noticed the BM that I am able to squeeze out has the same hue of colostrum....do you know anything about this or what this left over milk is all about?
TIA
Re: If you have weaned or Hypo!
Eta: you got me curious and I squeezed one... and it leaked!!!!
My sister can still squeeze stuff out. Her youngest just turned 7!!! They have checked all her hormone levels, etc. and everything checks out. The Dr's say there is some procedure or medicine or something (I forget) that they can give her, but its, expensive, or painful, or has sh!tty side effects (I forget the details), so she's not interested.
I never stopped being able to squeeze stuff out, but I got pregnant right as I weaned, so it's kinda different.
You are kidding? WOW!
Are there any positive reasons why our bodies are still producing a substance? Did her MD say what the substance was? Is prolactin still in the blood? Ahhh my wheels are turning now!
7 years since? Wow.
Wow! That's crazy! 7 years?!? I wonder if it'd help if she tried no more milk tea. I mean, I guess if it's not bothersome, might as well leave well enough alone.
I will have to ask her the details again and report back....
I don't think there is anything good or bad about it, it's just a non issue other than being annoying. She says its just her husband that ever notices, kwim?
I think I know what you mean
Wow! This is fascinating! What decreases the level of prolactin? Were you advised to avoid nipple stimulation as well?
Thank you so much for checking with her and getting back!
Good to know if it turns green then I should probably call my MD!
I wonder if a lactation consultant would have more answers?
My prolactin went down on its own before I got pregnant with A. That is not too common. I was on medication for a year at one point though because the levels were high and my periods were extremely irregular. So the medication brought the levels down and luckily they didn't jump too much when I came off of it.
You know they have never said anything about nipple stimulation but that is a good question. They just told me not to try and express anything after I was done nursing.
