If you had newborn photos taken...

How old was LO at the time? I'm starting to look at photographers and when I get asked when I want to do it I have no idea! How soon after birth do people normaly get pictures done?

Ours were done at 11 days. My photog said anytime before 2 weeks.

We had ours at 5 days old. She said she wanted them done within a week of birth because its easier to manipulate the baby and they are so sleepy in the beginning so it works out nicely. My photographer came to the house so I didn't have to worry about leaving. I chose not to get any pictures of us as a family, we will do that at 6 months as I wasn't feeling up to it that so soon!

9 days old, my photog likes to do the between 4 and 10 days old before they start peeling a lot. I felt fine to do it. You'll be glad you did

We did ours at 2 days in the hospital. She came to us and it was easy, even while recovering from a csection.

This. I didn't have them done - with all the NICU craziness and them being tiny/hooked up to stuff, we never got it in gear to have the in-house people come -and I regret it now. I'm SO glad the hospital took a "promo" shot of the five of us. I have that at least.

We didn't do newborn photos either and when the lady at the hospital asked about doing photos I instinctively said no without thinking about it (so used to those annoying people at amusement parks and such) and now I feel terrible that we didn't do it. Crying

13days old. Since we had a stay in the NICU it pushed our pics out. She was still so small so it was perfect! I felt fine. Had to travel 40 minutes to get to her house but it was worth it!!!

I got my sons's done when he was 12 days old and I felt it was too late. He wouldn't stay sleeping and I couldn't get any of the "classic" newborn shots because he wouldn't stay posed. My photographer had recommended we do them before 9 days old but I just didn't feel up to going out.

I wish I had found someone who either would have come to my house (I found out later that one other one that I aksed who was a bit more $ would have) or just sucked it up and went out!!

I like the pictures I got, but I had really wanted those really newborn pictures. I definitely will next time!

I take them no later then 10 days old and prefer 7 days. I come to the mom's house though with all my supplies and props. Really all the mom does is sit and watch and feed and change and comfort when needed.

We did ours at 13 days old. Our photographer suggested we do it before DD turned 2 weeks, because they sleep so much and they have that definite "newborn" look. If I may offer one suggestion, have you and your spouse dress up and look good in case you are in a few pics too. One of my favorite pics happened accidentally when I was consoling DD; both DH and I were in it and it was a really amazing pic. We weren't intending to be in any, but are so glad to have that pic.
