If your LO had RSV, a question

We were diagnosed on Saturday with RSV, and the ped said it was day 1 or 2 of it. The last few days LO has still had the energy to go go go, and avoided her naps or had super short naps like usual. Today so far she's had at least three naps, and they've been long ones. Did you notice your LO sleeping more in the middle of the infection or towards the end? It just worries me because it's such a change in how she usually acts, but the doc yesterday said she was sounding better.

  • We've never had it, but I would think its probably much needed recovery sleep.

  • My LO slept almost the whole time she had it.  Starting around day 3 she would nap for like 3 hours, I would wake her and she would barley eat then nap again.   She also slept most of the night.  I think by day 8ish she went back to her old sleep routine and around day 10ish she was eating like she did before she got sick. I hope your LO feels better soon!
  • One of my friends babies had it last week, and she had commented that her LO was sleeping a ton on day 4 and 5 of RSV. I asked a few days later how her LO was and she said she was doing great and back to her active little self. Hope that helps, RSV is spreading like a wild fire around our parts!

Ok, that's what it sounds like so I'm going to assume it's just healing sleep and let her be. Thanks!

Ours too, and she doesn't go to daycare or isn't around other kids so I have no idea where she got it. I blame my husband, he's around all sorts of random people in the evening.

  • My daughter had it for 10days and it was 10days of hell! Could not keep anything down because he would cough so hard she would vomit. She was very sleepy the whole time. She was actually admitted to the Hsp for observation and iv's. pedialyte was our best friend to keep her hydrated because she would not drink her bottles. Best of luck!!
