Auto seat protector

Does anyone have experience with these auto seat protectors?? We have two cars, both with leather seats and we really want to protect the seats without compromising safety. Any suggestions on brands??

Re: Auto seat protector

  • My DH is a car fanatic and we also have leather seats...we bought this one...https://www.target.com/p/eddie-bauer-car-seat-protector/-/A-11119069

  • You shouldn't use any "aftermarket" products with a car seat, They haven't been crash tested and will void the warranty. When we had our car seat inspected with #1, they told us the same thing.
  • We have this summer infant one

I wish we had gotten it sooner, I love it.  DS is still rear facing (probably going to change that this week tho since he's super tall) and his feet are all over this thing and we live in MN, so he runs thru the slush & snow in a parking lot and gets in our new car and kicks that crap all over this!  Much better than ruining our seat!  We don't have leather, we have middle row buckets in our Traverse, and this cover fits awesome.  Got 2 for x-mas, so will be setting up new baby with his/hers as well when it's time.  Catches little crumbs too underneath when he snacks in car.  We haven't given him any beverages, other than water, to drink on his own yet in the car, but this will help to protect from any spills there as well.  Well worth the $25!  You can also get them so they just protect the base, but I knew his little feet would be rubbing all over the back, so opted for the higher ones!

  • Anything you put between the carseat and the seats, or the carseat buckles and the baby (e.g. the BundleMe) are considered aftermarket products and can compromise safety.

It's better to have a safe baby than pretty car seats.

We have this one too. It's been crash tested and let me assure you, it does not move. I hope people realize that when they roll a towell or blanket under or behind the seat to make it level with the ground, as the directions will say, that that is technically using an aftermarket product as well since the towell is in between the seat and the car seat. At least this one has grips and it adheres right to the seat and doesn't budge.

  • Our car seat inspector said they were safe, we got the eddie Bauer one from target. Ours grips to the seat too and tucks in under part of it? My husband installed it and I thibk that's what he said

  • We got the Britax car seat protector because it is manufactured by them and crash tested with their car seats. So you can protect your seats without compromising safety. That said, I didn't feel comfortable going with a generic brand like summer infant or the others I saw in the stores because they lacked that assurance that it would not negatively affect our seat's performance.

  • We got the summer infant one and Eddie B (one for each car). I have a friend that ruined her leather seats because she didn't use one. Car seat is very secure/tight in place with it with installed.
  • We use the Prince Lionhart one with two pieces to cover the back and bottom of the seat. Our seats actually install better with the protector than without, per the inspector. We were in an accident when my DD was three weeks old, and we had no issues with replacement of the seats, etc.
Mommy to Seth (4) and Catherine Anne (13 mo.) Excited to welcome a third child in March of 2013!
  • Awesome, thanks guys for your advice. I know it's a little controversial to have car seat protectors. I'll do my research with all your suggestions :)
