pp weight loss PSA

After read the post about weight loss post partum, it is amazing how many women are back in their regular clothes and or size. Congrats!

However this isnt the case for most people at least from what I have seen. Don't feel like you have to drop the vast majority right away. Everyone is different. I feel like crap about myself for at least a month or so after giving birth...just feel ugly. If I thought being back in my jeans that fast is standard I would have been even nuttier.

i actually don't lose the last ten or so pounds until I wean. I think my Irish genes hold on in case there is a famine or something.

Be health and good luck but don't worry if you are still wearing maternity clothes a month after giving birth.

Re: pp weight loss PSA

  • I am glad you posted this. I lost all my weight this time, but I didn't with my dd. I actually weighed more when I got home from the hospital.  I guess people only want to talk about the weight they lost.

  • I've had a good experience this time but with my son I lost some weight ( the weight of him) and then gained while BFing. So almost three years later I'm hoping I finally lose the baby weight of my first!!

  • Amen, the last thing we need to worry abt right now is our weight! And since I am BFing, I am trying to eat healthy but definitely not less need those calories!

  • Amen! I always try to post in those posts BECAUSE I haven't lost it all and want to present both sides. With DD1 I gained about 30, lost 20 in 3 weeks and it took 3 more months to lose the rest and squeeeeeeeze into pre-pg pants. This time I gained more and it is going to take longer!
  • Thank you for posting! With DS1 it took me a full 6 months to get to my pre preg weight and with DS2, I have 11 pounds hanging around and I'm 1 month PP. it will happen but it can take time!

  • I hear you about feeling gross and completely unsexy after having a baby. I have lost almost all the weight, but my stomach is so saggy and soft, my boobs look like tennis balls in gym socks, and my lady parts seem to be flapping wide open. It's terrifying to think that things won't ever be the same again, but friends tell me they will be.
  • Thank you for posting this!  IF I had gained the appropriate amount of weight (around 25 lbs), I would have been back in my old jeans by now.  However, life happened and I gained 60 lbs... so I've got about 35 lbs to go.

I'm breastfeeding and looking forward to losing the rest via smart eating and exercise... but for now, I'm enjoying my DS and remembering that he will never be this little again.  Snuggling on the couch and being happy is my main goal these days :)

  • I'm going to echo your sentiments. Even though I only have about 5 pounds of baby weight, my body is different. My hips are still too wide for my prepregnancy jeans.
