Do your LOs run away from you in public? How do you handle it?
Now that LO is bigger, I don't always put him in the stroller and for some errands, I don't use a cart.
On today's errands, LO did amazingly well at JoAnn's (major props - given the colorful craft supplies, holiday gear, etc), but ran away from me while I was paying at another store, and I had to excuse myself to retrieve him from the employee hallway. Same deal at the library last week. When I was checking our books out, he made a run for the stairs and started climbing. I instruct him firmly about staying with mama in parking lots and he obeys in those situations, but not consistently in other locales. I know I'm not going to be able to pick him up and carry him places at 35 weeks - or when the new baby arrives!

Re: Runner-away?
Sometimes we have this issue. We still hold him a LOT! When he is walking though, it's about 50/50. I have no advice, just commiseration.
We say "red light!" and he stops and yells "red light!!"
We make him hold our hands if he is with both of us. Most of the time of its just one of us, I'll put him in the buggy. But if there isn't one like the mall, I just hold his hand and hope for the best lol
Good ideas - I'll try the red-light &/or the leg stand!
