The baby's dad has a job where he's away a lot leaving me alone with the baby and no sleep, so when I discovered that he slept a lot longer at night in the car seat instead of the crib, I started putting him in there on a regular basis so that I could get some much needed sleep. Now he's almost 6 months old and will sleep through the night in it but if I try and put him down in his crib he won't sleep for more than an hour at a time before waking up screaming. He's getting too big for the car seat and I can't figure out how to wean him off of it and get him to go down in his crib.
Re: Breaking my baby of the car seat?
You might as well just go for it at this point and put him in the crib, because that's where he needs to get used to sleeping. The only way to break a habit is to get them used to doing it the new way. Start a bedtime routine and do it the same way every night no matter what, so he knows the cues for bedtime. Be consistent and don't give up!
