I registered at Amazon and had a really good experience. I liked that I could read all the reviews and then add the product right to my registry. I also registered at a local baby store (not a chain) and most people seemed to prefer to order from Amazon-- most of my gifts came from there. Also they offer the typical 10% completion discount.
I registered on Amazon, but no one bought anything from my registry there. I ended up getting a generous gift certificate to buy everything with the 10% completion discount.
FWIW, I also registered at BRU and I only received 2 items off that registry. Most of the gifts at my shower were handmade or clothes.
I also used Amazon, it was my only registry but it had items from other stores like Target added to it. Some people bought things, but mostly people ignored the registry. If I had a do-over I would do Amazon plus an actual store like Target. GL!
I registered at Amazon, works great. Especially for me because we live in NC and shower was in St. Louis, so most people had it sent directly to our house. It worked out well, almost everything was bought off of it. I was able to use the completion coupon for our baby jogger stroller which a lot of other places won't let you use.
Returns and exchanges are much easier if you only add things from amazon and not third parties.
I registered at Amazon, in addition to BRU and BBB. Actually, DW and I had our shower yesterday! I had probably about a dozen people go to BRU, 6-7 go to BBB, and 2 went to Amazon. Then 4-5 people went totally off the registry.
I like registering there because it gave online shopping-savvy people another option, because of the reviews, and especially because Amazon has the boutique A+A swaddles.
I registered there but no one used it. I also had BRU. But I did get a good gift card there. It was nice to use my 10% completion because there were no restrictions and I was able to use it on my Britax B-Safe and B-Aigle which were sold together and already $100 less than BRU.
It was by far my favorite wedding registry and it's the only registry we're using for our baby showers. Like a PP, we live out-of-town for both families (and therefore, both showers) so people are shipping to our house (and >$25 means free shipping, so generally, that works out well for people). I also love being able to read all the reviews and get ideas by looking at other people's registries.
I registered at Amazon and BRU. I found the prices and selection to be better on Amazon but in the end, we got almost everything off our BRU registry and only a few things from Amazon.
If anything, it was worth it for the completion coupon.
I had an Amazon registry and I thought it was pretty convenient. You can also add the universal wish list feature to include items off other sites and the registry is easy to update and manage yourself. We didn't have a shower, but our OOT friends and family were generous with sending gifts bought online. The only disadvantages are the fluctuating prices and inventory. When items become unavailable at Amazon.com due to inventory, prices skyrocket via 3rd party sellers and S&H is usually added. Also third party vendors may become the default seller if they happen to offer the lowest price on the item when you follow the registry links to purchase. This is a problem because they may not have the same policies and product quality and authenticity as Amazon.
If you are having a shower locally, I suggest you pick a brick and mortar store as well. Most people still prefer to shop in actual store for baby showers.
I am registering on Amazon and BRU. I wanted to just go with Amazon but I was concerned that some of the older family members like my grandparetns in law wouldnt feel comfortable with online shopping. I ran it by my friends who are hosting the shower and they all loved the idea bc they all shop on amazon and are amazon prime members. I think it depends on the crowd; if your shower/ present crowd is amazon savvy, i think it'd work well as their prices are lower than BRU.
I registered at Amazon and BRU. It seemed like for the most part Amazon had better prices and selection. However, hardly anyone bought off of our Amazon registry. It seemed like people wanted to go to the store and pick out whatever they were going to buy in person. After my shower I took everything off the BRU one and bought whatever I still needed off of Amazon with the completion discount. In my case I was glad I used Amazon plus one regular store.
We registered at amazon and BRU. More people bought off amazon especially out of town people that couldnt come. They just shipped the gift right to our door. It was a nice surprise! Prices were cheaper that BRU and convenient for a lot of people. Go for it!
