I have never posted here, but could use some advice. I am 25 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. First was an unplanned csection. I was induced (started at 3 cm), pushed for 4 hours, told my baby's head was transverse (OT position), and that I needed a csection. While my doctor was convincing me to agree to the section, she told me that I could have a VBAC with my next baby and I agreed. My daughter was 8 pounds, 10 ounces and 22.5 inches.
At my first OB appointment with this pregnancy I was told that the practice doesn't do VBAC's and that she could refer me to another practice if I were a good candidate, but that she didn't think I was because my pelvis was small. This was the first I had heard of the small pelvis. I decided to trust my doctor that I wasn't a good candidate, but as the pregnancy has gone on, I have my doubts.
I called another practice in the area yesterday that does VBAC's on a case by case basis. They were concerned about evaluating me so late in my pregnancy, but agreed to give me an appointment, but said there were no guarantees that they would allow me to VBAC. They also said they would need all of my medical records. I am hesitant to leave my practice so late in my pregnancy and start fresh with a practice that has 5 doctors I have yet to meet. I'm also hesitant to just do a "consult" and then stay with my practice, knowing that my current doctors will know I went somewhere else.
Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and what you'd recommend. Is it too late to start fresh without a guaranteed shot at labor?
Re: Advice re: switching doctors for VBAC
My practice does VBACs but I have been very unhappy with some of the doctors there and the way they have spoken to me and treated me. I decided to switch practices at 30 weeks.
I cannot find ANYONE willing to take me on at this point. No one will even consider me as a new VBAC patient this late in my pregnancy.t wish I could help but I feel like I'm in a very similar situation. I can switch Drs if I will agree to RCS, but if I RCS I don't feel like I need to switch Drs.

Honestly, I don't think it's ever too late to switch to a supportive provider. Do you have a local ICAN group? I'd trust their advice on who are the supportive VBAC providers in your area. I wouldn't worry as much about what the doctors think as to how you will feel if you don't at least go for a consult. Will you kick yourself later if you just sign up for a RCS? (Btw, from what I've heard, the too small pelvis thing is often a lot of baloney...it just sounds like your DD wasn't positioned well.)
I know of a number of people who have switched providers into their mid to late 30 weeks with no issues, so I wouldn't even bat an eye at 25 weeks.

Frankly, I think it's more likely that your baby's positioning caused your c/s, rather than your pelvis really being too small.
Have you called around to other providers? I agree with trying to contact a local ICAN group (https://ican-online.org/chapter/search), and also seeing if you can find local doulas - they are usually a good source of local providers who do VBAC. I think it's at least worth it to look around more!
