Spotting off and on for a few weeks, pill related?

Hello, I take bcp and only take active pills to avoid getting af dr knows and okd it. Last af was at the end of Oct. well the last few weeks I've had some spotting here and there. Sometimes brown or obviously "old blood" one day had red spotting and thought I was gonna get af but didn't. Then a few days with nothing and now back to brownish/red and its never been every time I wipe. It's usually thick like mixed with ewcm or something. Anyways is this probably due to pill or should I call ob?

    I spotted off and on from the middle of my cycle to my period when I was on BCP (which is why I didn't go back on them after DD). You might mention it to your OB, who might suggest a different pill.

    This is the first time I've had spotting with the pill. The first few cycles I still got af but then nothing since end of Oct and now this. This is also a pill I was on before and didn't have this happen.
