Hello ladies! Usually I stick to the 3rd trimester board but just found the Feb 2013 birthing group board so I thought I would do a little intro.
I'm scheduled to be induced this friday when I'm 39 weeks exactly and have to say, these final days are the LONGEST! lol. I've been sitting at 3cm for the last week (progressing a centimeter a week since 35.5 weeks). My water broke with my first 10 days early and I never went into labor and never went through BH at all so all these contractions I've been experiencing for the last couple weeks have really been new for me. I'm hoping baby boy comes on his own before friday just to get this waiting game over! lol. I actually had a quick question for you gals: have any of you gone in for an induction and just had your water broken without needing pictocin? I'm wanting to try having my water broken first on my induction day but I'm not sure if thats even an option.
Congrats to all the new mommies this month! And yay for all us pregos who don't have too far left to go! ![]()
Re: Intro and question :)
I think the reason it is not recommended is because once your water is broken you have a time limit, so you could end up with what would be an otherwise unnecessary c-section if you don't progress and deliver fast enough.
Is there a reason they are inducing at 39 weeks? Just curious.
Thanks for the advice! And yes, the contractions this time around are ridiculous! for the last month they have been daily ranging from 15 mins apart to 5 mins apart, some really painful. Last week I was 3 cm and 90% effaced so I think my cervix is pretty favorable at this point lol. I will for sure be asking my OB tomorrow about breaking my water before getting pictocin. The pictocin just makes the contractions come on so hard and fast that I don't have time to get used to them and I'm trying to do things without an epidural this time around. Thank you ladies!
