ok, I am hosting my friends baby shower this Saturday, and I am stuck on table centerpieces... I was going to make diaper zoo animals, like the fish, octopus, etc, but I just haven't had the time... so, what else can I do? doesn't have to be crazy... just something for the tables... I don't want to typical 'baby shower' things like the little stands with ribbon things, or whatever... I would like something cute, something nice, and something that people will look at and be like "that's so cool!" or whatever...
Thanks ladies! I can't wait to show you pictures next week!
Re: Help with underwater themed centerpieces for a shower this weekend
I should have said though... she is a huge animal person, and this is one thing she absolutly hates at events... especially if you are telling people to take them home... she feels that you are "making them care for something they may not want" and therefore they are not going *in most cases* to be taken care of properly. Although, I know they are just goldfish, but she (and really I) are kind of against it... (like I said, she is a huge animal person, and so am I, and working at petsmart at one point, you really see the people that come in hating that they got this fish and now have to take care of it, or the people that come in and don't care and just buy the fish knowing they don't have to worry about where they go after the event.)
Thanks for that idea though!
yeah, Im on pinterest everyday... and nothing has caught my eyes... but I am still looking!
Do you have a dessert that you can make a centerpiece? Like a cupcake display or cake pops?
What about getting little bowl - vases from the dollaer store and putting swedish fish or goldfish crackers in them? That might be really cute and it's something people can snack on during the party.
My parents hosted a luau for my college graduation party and I made a cool centerpiece with a 3 x 10" square wooden box filled with craft sand and different shells, sand dollars and star fish in it. It looked really cool (if I do say so myself) and it's in the main bathroom in my parents house right now as decor for a beachy bathroom.
If you don't like the sand, you could fill some tall vases with different shells, or make some little gel candles with plastic fish in them so it looks like a fishbowl.

I like this!
but have a small bowl, with blue glass drops in it, and have fish , sharks, whales, etc... on the skewers...
Thanks!!!
If you have some glass vases, maybe buy some packs of underwater-themed bath toys and stick them in a vase of water...I kow Target sells a big plastic bin with a bunch of fish, etc. and some kelp in the toy aisle....then you could just dry them off at the end of the shower and give them to the mom to use for bath time. You could also get stuffed animals (Nemo, Dory, etc.).
I also agree with PPs suggestions to arrange your food and desserts on stands and use that.
Last thought- get some reeds and put in a vase.
Please tell me you mean gold fish crackers like the other posts? If not...
Live animals are NOT decoration. It's just cruel.
