Bo is so not ready! Although I did pick up some 2T- boy Pull Ups for some reason last week. Maybe one day he will think potty time is exciting like Elmo!
K will sit on the potty before bath and put a few drops of pee in the potty. But he thinks it is more fun to lean back and pee on the floor. He's not ready for full time potty training, I've just been taking advantage of the opportunity.
It's not even a consideration yet. He has lately started saying "I poo" or "I pee", but not in the right context. We also haven't exposed him to the potty very much, because DH and I both like our few moments of privacy lol.
We'll consider starting exposure this summer (buying a potty, reading books on the potty in the morning and before/after bathtime in the evening), and evaulate his readiness closer to his birthday. This is definitely not something I'm going to rush. I'm also going to see when/if daycare starts seeing signs of readiness.

We've started to talk about the potty and have a few potty books. We also have a seat that fits on the toilet and she will sit on it (with cloths and with our help). She stays about a half a second. I also let her watch me pee so she starts to understand what it is for.
We're trying to build an awareness so she knows what to do when we are ready. I'm planning on waiting until the summer when she can wear dresses, easy to get off clothing, and can just go naked more.
I've started to read about different methods, but haven't picked one yet.
We are nowhere near potty training and I really am not even thinking about it yet. My friends with boys have told me they train closer to 3 so I figure I have a year before I really start. Although a co-worker told me that once A moves up to the toddler room next month he may become interested in the potty watching other kids.

We've made some big steps. I bought her a potty awhile back and would sit her on it before bath time. If I time it right she will pee and/or poo on the potty before bath. Yesterday she kept trying to go upstairs...I couldn't figure out why then realized she hadn't pooped yet that morning. Took her upstairs and put her on the potty and she pooped!
The thing that's holding us back is that she doesn't say "pee" or "poo" yet. If she goes in her diaper she'll find the stuff to change her and bring it to you, but she doesn't say it yet.

It's not even on my radar. He does tell me right away after he poops but I don't associate that at all with potty training.
I have zero desire to even start thinking about this before his 2nd bday. His life is going to totally change this summer. He's moving to a new room, he's getting a baby sibling, I'm going to be recovering from a c/s and getting used to bfing the new baby, potty training is bottom of my list!

DD2 asks to sit on the potty once every day or two, but we haven't "caught" anything yet. She just does it because she wants to do everything big sister does. I honestly won't consider starting to potty train until summer at the earliest.
Mama to two sweet girls DD1 Feb 2010 DD2 Sept 2011
We bought a potty chair around Christmas time just to expose him to it. Part of me was hopeful that seeing the potty chair, something would just click and voila, he'd be potty trained! (hahahaha... so naive!) Nope -- he loves tearing it apart.
We likely won't start actively potty training until after his 2nd birthday (or later if he doesn't seem ready). If he seems interested sooner, I'll definitely take advantage of it.
But man, does the boy love flushing the big potty when we're not looking!
L has pooped on the potty chair a few times, but then she suddenly got really skittish about it, so we backed way off. She just asked to sit on it for the first time in a few weeks again yesterday, but didn't go. I'm definitely following her lead; if she wants to sit on it, she can, but otherwise we will keep on with diapers for now. She is obsessed with being in the bathroom whenever I am, handing me toilet paper, and flushing though. She signs "potty" and says either mama or dada the whole time either one of us is in there without her.
DD started asking to go to the potty around Christmas, and she goes a few times a day now. I still think it's more novelty for her right now and we're happy to just follow her lead for now. We remind her to tell us when she has to go, and she has been pretty good about it. She's even started asking to get out of the tub if she has to go, which I see as a huge step in the right direction.
I think maybe this summer we might start pushing her a little more. For now, this is ahead of where I ever expected to be with it, so I'm psyched to take what I can get. She also loves to flush, and she waves and says "bye bye" to her pee.
We just have the seat that goes on our regular toilet, but she goes in other places without a special seat, too. DH and I are completely against special potty chairs, because we see them as just one more instance where we would have to clean up someone else's poop, and that defeats one of our key objectives in potty training.
N knows the word "potty" from a word book but I don't think she knows what it is. She has just started to show interest in the toilet (lifting the lid etc) and I am trying to associate "potty" with when I can tell she is pooping but that is about it. I have a potty book, stool, and seat on my Amazon wish list but don't see us starting anything anytime soon.
ETA: I'm with Susie on using a seat not a free-standing potty so training will maybe be a bit later as she'll have to be able to get to the toilet safely all the time.

This is the other reason that we're not going to start pushing DD at all yet - she can't even pull her own pants down yet, so she's a very long way from being able to do any of this on her own!
Not even on the radar yet. I haven't seen any signs that she's ready, so I'm thinking maybe in a year or so. I will ask her if she pooped if I think I smell it, and she almost always says yes, even when she hasn't, so I'm pretty sure she doesn not get the concept of poop or pee yet.
If I wasn't on the bump I would never have even thought about potty training. I have no desire to do it now. In fact I won't until I see signs or she is around 2. E will be 26 months when 2 makes his/her appearance and I imagine there will be some regression anyway.

I think we are still a ways off. L is showing an awareness, but not a readiness, if that makes sense. Like, she will sometimes tell us when her diaper needs changed, and if we ask, she will say, "diada!" and hold up her arms to be carried into her room. And she calls the toilet the potty now. But before or after almost every bath she pees on the floor, and last week even pooped on the floor. I really need to get her a potty of her own and put her on it after baths. But I won't push it; she'll show us when she's ready.
When C was going through major separation anxiety, I would have to take her into the bathroom with me. Now it has become the norm in our house for her to follow us into the bathroom. If I say, "Mommy has to peepee" she will run to the bathroom. So the good thing is, she sort of understands "potty talk".
I bought her a potty this weekend and put it beside the toilet. She sits on and thinks its funny but I don't think she really understands what to do yet. That's ok, though. She'll get it eventually. And when she does pee for the first time, I am going to have a huge celebration. I can't wait to be done with diapers!

We have a potty in the bathroom and A likes to sit on it but she thinks its just a game. She does say poo poo now when she has a dirty diaper but I don't think she's anywhere ready to start!

No way! We'll start when he's about 2.5 yrs old. I've started too early before and it's NO FUN at all. 9 mos of changing wet/poopy big boy pants is no fun! When I waited until 2.5 with #2 and #3 the whole thing was over in 2 days. Maybe 2-3 accidents each!

Pretty much no where near ready. She likes to sit on her potty and pick it up and move it around the room, but that is about it. We have a couple potty books that she really likes. Hoping she'll show some interest a little after she turns 2. If nothing by 2.5, we will start pushing on our end.
We are not ready yet either. I wish we were since I'm due with DD2 at the end of May. There was a time where she was pooping around the same time at day car so the day care lady sat her down in the toilet but she didn't go and now she just goes at different times everyday and doesn't know how to tell us yet.

We aren't close at all. And I am okay with that!
Haha!! I am okay too! Even if diaper changes are my arm workout for the day!
