Anyone have a mattress pad for their child's bed? Not the thin waterproof ones, but like a mattress topper. Alexander sometimes comes in our bed in the middle of the night and yesterday he squished his hand into our tempurpedic topper and said, "so soft" and cuddled right into it. It's making me think that the hard mattress on his bed is actually not comfortable for him. he seemed so happy to get onto our squishy bed! Maybe if his bed was more comfy he would stay all night...
So anyone have a pad to recommend? Is there a reason a toddler shouldn't have a pad? Should I just get a foam egg crate one and cut it to size?

Couple Options:
1.Egg Crate Foam, that can easily be cut down to size.
2. Take a Comforter (twin size you already may have) and fold it and put it under the water poof cover.
3. The feather bed, or alternative, which also could go under the mattress pad. If you got a twin one and folded it in half it should work and be nice and soft. Then you could also use it then when you transition if your plan is go with a twin size bed.
Ooh, interesting! I wanted to go to IKEA this weekend. I will check it out! Otherwise, I think I could fold a twin egg crate pretty successfully in there.
