I just used the registry completion coupon from our wedding registry- I can't believe we'll be starting a baby registry so soon! Yikes! FTM here- looking for good advice for where to register/what to register for! Any and all advice appreciated because I'm pretty clueless about this kind of thing!

I've started it, but only to start getting ideas of what big items we might want. This is #2 for me, so I'm not planning on a shower. I just wanted a place to organize what items we need, since I sold a lot of my bigger stuff from DS when I was going through my divorce.
I definitely won't be starting one for quite some time, but I've heard from many mom's that the Baby Bargains book is a great resource to help with this. It lists lots of recs based on safety and price, so that may help you narrow down options. They release a new edition every 2 years, and the newest will be out in April.
This is #2 for me and I will probably do a registry just to make a list of what we'll need (and to get the % off coupons some places send out during the third tri). But no shower though... just for our convenience. But just a word of advice, a lot of stores (Target especially) rotate their items out frequently. So to start a registry early can be very hard. With #1 we started a registry in November, when I was about 5 months because oru parents wanted to get some items for us for christmas. By my shower in January, half of our registry at target was discontinued or on clearance and not available, so we basically had to start a new one, which was a huge inconvenience (and sad bc some of the items we really really liked). So just word of warning!

So far I just have a secret board on Pinterest, but later on I will make registries at target and BRU, just so I can get the coupon codes. This is #2 for me so I won't be having a shower or sharing my registry with anyone.
DH and I started ours at walmart.com but we have just the basics on there... a glider, a crib, crib mattres, baby gates, bottles, and some kits to help baby-proof the house. once we find out what we are having (I think it's a little girl but we'll see) we will add more gender specific things to it and figure out what the theme is going to be in the baby's room.
I wanted to get through my copy of baby bargains first and also waiting to get into 2nd tried so there's more of a guarantee the items will still be available when I eventually have a shower.

yes!!! i started the day i found out i was pregnant. people think im crazy and that some items may no longer be available by the time i have my shower, but they are items that are always available. mostly put things on that my friend got for her baby 3 years ago and its still on avail now. once we find out the sex i will finish the registry. It also helps as to keep a list of things so i dont forget.

I won't be registering this time, other than for myself to get the completion discount....but last time I used Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby, and Amazon. I know a lot of my guests liked that I used Amazon. Most things were much cheaper on Amazon (especially the bigger items) and you can get free shipping, etc.
I did start one to kinda organize what I need since my baby is 7 and I kinda forgot how much things a baby needs But, this is my third and one of my (new) friends, who wasn't around for my first two wants to throw me a shower. I guess she can use that as a resource. I "registered" at WalMart for the big ticket items like the travel system, playard and crib (same items at Babies R Us but for significantly less) and Babies R Us for the smaller items.
Just started! I liked the Rock n Play Sleeper, and I wanted to remember it, so I decided to start the BRU registry DH and I have walked around a bit and picked some things, so I just added a couple of essentials. It'll obviously be a work in progress for a while!

We registered at sears and babies r us, but they were the only places to register.
I need a few things now, but will only be registering to get the closeout registry discounts.
I was never really attached or in love with stuff from a store, so i didnt care when it was discontinued.
Good luck and have fun! Registering at Amazon sounds like a good idea.
