We are saying Da Da....I just knew Ma Ma would be first! I am a little jealous b/c I am the one who does everything with her. Ha ha ha! Oh well...just excited to have real words. We now say Bye, Hi, Da Da, and Ba Ba (for bottle). Yay!!
Unfortunately, Da Da usually comes first because it's an easier sound for them to make. My DD says it intentionally to him now, which makes me totally jealous. But she won't give him kisses because his cheek is always so stubbly. She only gives me kisses, so I guess I can live with that!
I have the wierd baby that said "ma" at like 7 months but STILL has not said "DA DA"! My husband and I are joking around that our little guy will be a teenager one day going "Hey Ga, can I borrow the car?" Also, my LO only says "ma" when he is ticked off. Soooo.....I am pretty sure he doesn't know I'm "ma" yet.
My oldest said DaDa first and like a PP said, the "d" sounds is easier than the "m" for babies to master.
My youngest actually said MaMa first but I think it's because he hears his brother say "Mom, Mom, Mom" all.day.long. He has definitely associated me with the word MaMa for at least the last month. He probably started to say DaDa about 3 weeks ago.
We've had dada over here for a month or two now. No mama yet or on the horizon... but I don't think it's a real word for her yet. Though I swear one morning she did wave and say 'bye dada'.
I stare at DD and say "MA MA MMMMMMMMM MA MA MA" all of the time. She looks at me for a second and goes, "Dat? DADADADADA" little stinker hahaha
DS has been saying da da for a few weeks and last weekend said mama. He continues to say dada all day long and maybe will through a mama in once every other day. No context yet.
L said dada first but when she says mama now she means it. Not all the time but when I go to get her in her crib she looks at me and says "mama" and when I leave the room and DH is with her she yells "mama". It never gets old and the best word I have ever heard.
