Hello Ladies,
I promised I would keep you updated on this whole issue with LO and his constipation and such. So, as a recap, he had an episode last Saturday, called the DR Monday and she refused to switch his formula and wanted me to put him on an adult laxative. I refused to give him the laxative and we decided to wait for him to go again before we switched our formula on our own. Well, he went a little and it didn't seem big enough so I wanted to wait for him to have a good size diaper since formula changes can cause constipation as well.
Well...Wednesday night he had the same episode that he had on Saturday, bruising in the abdomen and private area and stopped breathing. So, we gave him the glycerin and off to the ER we went. They took an X-Ray to make sure he wasn't completely backed up and his intestines weren't twisted. The X-ray came back fine. DR said he looked fine and to go ahead and switch his formula. We switched him to Similac Sensitive Thursday morning and he has done EXCEPTIONALLY well!! He has had a movement everyday and we have slowed down his organic prune concentrate intake and he is still doing well in his movements! Thank you, Lord!
I am just kicking myself for not switching it sooner and just waiting on the DR to give the go ahead. I should have just switched it to begin with...but...now I know!
Thank you everyone for all of your kind advice regarding this issue, I truly love this board of wonderful ladies that give such honest and caring advice!

Glad all is improving. You should give the doc a kick in the head. Are you considering a switch?
LO has his 4 month check up and shots scheduled for March 1st. We decided we are going to go in for that appointment get his shots taken care of and a copy of our record and explain to her that we are really disappointed in her care and that we will be switching.

She said that she wouldn't want to switch him away from the full milk formula due to it having more nutrients than the sensitive (which I don't understand how it couldn't after looking at the formulas side by side) and that 90% of the time formula switching will cause even more constipation which she didn't want to put him through. It all sounds weird to me. But, being a first time mom I guess I was just looking for the green light that the doctor approved the formula switch. Now I know better.

I am glad your LO is doing better. You seem a lot more understanding with the doctor than I would be. I hope you can find someone that works better with your family.
