Twins plus one later

I have twin girls that will turn two in mid April and am expecting one in mid May. This baby was a complete miracle/suprise. We had to go through fertility treatments to have our twin girls and this time I got pregnant on birth control that I took religiously! I am feeling the whole range of emotions still. My twins were super difficult. Just having twins is an insane amount of work and then throw in colic and not sleeping for the first year. Let's just say I am praying this one is a good sleeper! Just when I am finally comfortable with everything I will be adding a newborn. Anyone in a similar situation?

Re: Twins plus one later

  • I am. I have twin boys turning five in march, twin boys turning two next week and a complete surprise due in May. The first four were a product of IVF. We are both infertile, so needless to say this next one is unexpected. I don't have anything comforting to say but at least we can commiserate. Actually, my first set didn't sleep well but my nearly two twins sleep like champions. Hopefully our surprise babies will too. Good luck.

  • Yes - us too. IVF babies are 2.5 years old and surprise baby is due in October. My RE said it was a miracle....here's to miracle babies :)

  • My twins are only 4.5 months old so I'm obviously not in this situation. But I hope to be one day. DH says he's done having kids and I thought I would be too but I think now I want another down the road when the girls are 2.

  • Congratulations!! I know it's got to be scary, but what a wonderful surprise, in other ways. I had my singletons first, and my twins aren't even four weeks old right now. My singletons were definitely easier than my boys are - having free hands to do things, no harmonic screaming performances.... so try to find some peace and comfort knowing that you've already graduated the Super-Mom training program - you're already a huge step ahead, and you kan doo eet!!

  • Thank you ladies! I keep telling myself surely one infant is easier than two. I'm just worried about the logistics of it all. The girls are a handful two handfuls to be exact and adding another miracle in is kind of freaking me out! Congrats to all of you who are joining this club as well!
