Painted crib & furniture (YA)?

We're looking at Young America (Stanley) for our crib and dresser. They have painted finishes as well as the regular wood stains.  We like the painted finishes but are wondering if anyone has experience in their durability.. teething on them, knicking?

We understand that wood stained probably is more durable in that it wouldn't chip but since YA is so expensive, we're wondering if anyone has the painted cribs and if the painted surfaces hold up well.

 Thank you!

Re: Painted crib & furniture (YA)?

  • In my experience they hold up the same. You can purchase the gummy teething to hold up against teething. Teething on the crib will have the same affects regardless of paint or stain finish. The YA cribs pass more rigorous safety testing and made in the US which translates to a better quality product. You should be able to order touch up pens/paint from YA in case of any chips or knicks that may happen down the line.

  • Thank you.  To update, we went shopping again today and looked at two big stores that carry YA painted furniture.  We looked specifically for wear and tear on the floor models, figuring people touching them and banging them up would show wear.  They actually looked pretty good in the stores.
