So we went in a little early, but my LO is finally gaining some weight. At his appointment yesterday he weighed in at 23 lbs 9 oz and length was 31.5 inches
We go to a preemie specialist and they said that in 6 months the want him to be saying about 20-25 words. Does that sound about right to you all? 20-25 words for 22 months. I feel like that's the one area we may be behind on but the specialist said not to worry that he will pick up on the words soon now that he's walking

Re: 15 month stats
The specialist is right, that's about where he should be for a 2 year old. The older they get, the more they pick up. And they can pick 2-3 words a day. If you want to be more involved, write the words down that he starts to say. Then review those words every week so those words are easier for him to remember. With DD, we also did animal sounds (What does a cow say?)
Your LO sounds like he's doing great!
Whoa! Your LO may be a preemie, but he sounds bigger than my DD who was 2 weeks past her due date (and 8lbs at birth)! We go for her 15 month appt next week but I think she's just shy of 23lbs and maybe 31 inches. So your little guy sounds like he's doing pretty good to me!
20-25 words sounds like a lot to me, but my DD is behind in speech. Or almost. I was told they are considered "late talkers" if they haven't had their first word by 15 months. So DD has a few days, I guess, but she still hasn't said her first word. (Though she's been saying "dada" a lot and I *think* she means daddy w/ it, but she hasn't said it to him or if I ask a question about him, she doesn't say dada so who knows.....maybe it's still babble.) But DD *just* started walking too (two weeks ago) so I'm hoping her language development will start soon too.

Our appt. is tomorrow as well. I am anxious to see how big she has gotten. I will update tmrw!
ETA: DD weighed in at 23 lbs. .5 oz. (80%) and measured at 30" (30%ish). Our pedi wasn't at all concerned with her only saying 'mama' right now. She babbles a ton, mimics me, follows directions, points out certain stuff, can put a block into a cp and some other stuff that was n the check off sheet for milestone stuff.
As far as talking, he says about 30 to 40 words. He wasn't saying even one word at his 12 month appointment and at about 13 months it just clicked for him one day and he hasn't stopped talking since!

We don't go until the 22nd, but she's around 20 lbs and about 29 inches. (tiny but growing)
She says about 10-15 words.
