Travel potty seat?

DD finally started going on the potty last week, and she'll do ok on a regular toilet if she's somewhere she's familiar with - my parents, my il's. So I was debating about picking up one of the folding rings incase we ever have to use a public toilet that doesn't have the front piece - you know how some of the toilets are a 'u' shaped seat. Do you carry one with you? If so, what kind? Do you find it helps?

DD hates hand dryers so I may be in trouble if there is a public bathroom with a hand dryer so we'll see how it goes in those types of bathrooms.

Any other suggestions for public bathrooms to keep in mind?

DD is 2 1/2 and mostly potty trained except at night. She is also TERRIFIED of hand dryers and as soon as we walk into public bathrooms she asks me (repeatedly) "no noise? no noise?" making sure she won't encounter one.

Anyway I just put toilet paper down on the seats but I would like to look into one of those travel potties, but it sounds gross. How would you put it away? I don't carry a diaper bag and I wouldn't want to put a collapsible potty in my purse. Not sure how they work but I don't like the idea of carrying around a potty that has touched public toilets.

I like the potette seat. You can use it on the toilet, or I have an SUV, so I use it in the back of the car. I like that I have a place for DD to go potty at the park or before going in to some place too.

I've had the same thoughts with it being gross and all of that. I figure I'll still carry wipes with me for a while (I just cram some in a baggy, so its not like I have a huge package with me at any time) just because they are nice for an extra wipe on tables, hands, etc. So I figure I can wipe down the seat if need be and my other thought was, depending on the size, if it fits in a zip lock bag I could just cram it in there.

I just bought this one too and DS was pretty excited to try out the seat at home. We haven't used the bag part yet but seems like it would work well. The handles were nice b/c he did use them to help balance.

We have the Potette seat too, and it's worked out great for the few months where DD wasn't comfortable using public restrooms. I never actually put it on a public toilet seat, though. We have a SUV, and I would just have DD use it in the back of the car. Now, she's ok with public restrooms, and I just put a liner on the seat for her.

I have one of those fold up travel potty seats for public toilet, and I honestly never use it. It doesn't matter if I use it or not, he is still touching all over the thing. Their legs still hug the bowl. It just isn't worth the space it takes up in my bag, in my opinion. I just make sure to wipe him well and give him a bath that night.

But, someone mentioned how do you put it away... It comes with a plastic bag to keep it in

sorry no clicks, on iPad. Chloe doesn't like feeling out of control, so she won't go on the big seats. This has helped a lot! We just wipe it down with a wet wipe after each use and I bleach it and the bag it's in once a week.

I bought a fold up travel seat. Ds wanted nothing to do with it. I would just sit behind him on the seat and hold him.

I bought a fold up travel seat and it is not stable. It slips and it can easily fall into the toilet if you aren't careful. Especially the public toilets! Sometimes even with the child on it. So I didn't want her to become fearful of public toilets so I bought the Baby Bjorn Toilet Trainer. It isn't compact but her not being scared of falling into the toilet was worth it for me. I just put it in an oversize ziploc bag & then put that in a bag that is just big enough to put it in with a few other things like a change of clothes, travel wipes etc. It is so secure any toilet even public ones. It has a dial that you turn to tighten it on.

I thought about buying one of those fold up seats, but I'm sort of a germaphobe and it grossed me out. Instead I bought disposable oversized seat covers. I think I got them at diapers.com. They are great and cover the whole seat and sides. I end up having DS sit facing at an angle instead of straight forward on those u shaped seats.
As far as the hand dryers, DS hates those too. If they don't have paper towels we skip handwashing. I carry Wet Ones hand sanitizing wipes so we use those instead to avoid the dryer drama.
