Colorado Babies

New Mom in Fort Collins!

So my husband and I just found out a few days ago that we're going to have our first baby! This was rather unplanned, but we're getting more and more excited with the idea. It just doesn't feel real! I am about 6 weeks right now. The hardest part right now is that I we don't really want to tell anyone about it yet, so we can't share the good news! I also feel like I have so many questions. I just found out the face wash I was using is probably bad for the baby- who knew?! I also feel so fragile- I work the night shift so I'm really worried about a miscarriage. I don't see my doctor for another few weeks. Then I just got hired for a new job, and I found out that I won't be eligible for the 12 week maternity leave, so I have to figure that out at some point too! So if anyone wants to give advise or just support I would appreciate it!

Re: New Mom in Fort Collins!

  • Congrats! I'm in the same boat as you. Except I'm very, very early. Only about 4 weeks. We conceived the same month we went to the infertility specialist. So they were on top of everything last week :) My entire group of friends here are pregnant. There's four of us if you include myself. If you have any questions or want to chat about your symptoms, feel free to message me!
Did you say it? I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life. Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it. But every now and then, look around. Drink it in. 'Cause this is it. It may all be gone tomorrow.
  • Congrats to you both!! I  hope to join your club soon too!!

I work 12 hour shifts also OP, just thinking of day care etc makes my head spin. I work 7-7 and DH works 8-8, even though we have a lot of days off...the ones we don't will be hard.

  • I am a FoCo mommy to be too (our first) and am so excited. I think I am a little farther along then you two, but I would love to share stories, and support.

I tend to hang on the June Board, but plan on being here more often. I hope to get to know you both.

  • Woah, I'm a June Board Mama too and I'm also in Fort Collins! I just noticed this 'talk to moms in your area' on the home page and thought I'd check it out. I'm about 16 weeks, but I'm all about meeting other expectant moms in my area for advice and support:)

  • Also, Kristmas, congratulations! I had the same experience with face wash! I just stopped using it as soon as I did know. I can definitely relate to feeling fragile though...pregnancy makes me feel wussier and wussier! What I quickly realized in those first weeks is to just be positive and feel excited! Worrying won't do anything and being positive is better for your stress level and therefor for baby until you have the reassurance of a doctor visit. But I get that it's hard to be patient with something so huge!
