PUPPPS... now?

I am itching like crazay over here, and have been since Friday. I have some big, lovely red bumps to show for it, too. Bleh.

I see my doctor tomorrow, so I'll just ask her about it then, but has anyone else developed PUPPPS super late - like in the middle of their 39th week? And regardless of when you developed it, what did you use to ease the itch? I need to stop clawing myself :X

Luckily we (those of us still preggers) are almost at the end! ;)

Yep I had it with my son, in week 37 and had it until about 3 days after I delivered my son. (he was born 38w6d) Yes, its little red bumps and they itch like crazy!!!! Nothing you can do except ask for cream tomorrow and ride it out. GL!

  • Yes! I did. I think it was at 39 wks or 38. It was sooo itchy. I had my daughter a week ago and its still itchy but not nearly as bad. My dr recommended Calamine lotion and also said hydrocortisone was fine too. It was so itchy at the hospital that they gave me prescription strength hydrocortisone haha. I actually liked the calamine the best though because it was soothing and didnt dry it out. Hope this helps!
  • Don't know if it works for PUPPS but I like the eurcerin calming body wash which is like an oil instead of soap in the shower.  I use it on eczema and its great in combination with lotion after.
  • No PUPPPS for me (yet?) but my cat keeps bringing in bugs and I have several bites on my calves, two on my arm and one on my back from whatever they are? Its not mosquito season yet here in the South... no fair!

  • Just got off the phone with my doctor and I've developed it POST PARTUM. WTH!?
Hydrocortizone helps for about ten minutes, benadryl s a little helpful, I'm gettin some caladryl when the SO gets home... Nothing really works 100%.

  • Thanks, y'all! I'll have to give calamine lotion a try. *fingers crossed that this goes away as soon as I have the baby!*

I honestly don't know if PUPPPS is worse than a bunch of bug bites. I HATE bug bites! Being from the south myself, I am very familiar with a wide array.

  • Had it with my first. Pine tar soap, oatmeal baths helped. Also I basically had mounds of lotion on me at all times. If I would start itching it was so hard to stop so I found baths helpful then.

Mine went away right before I delivered. It sucks. Upside is this my third pregnancy and only had it with my first.

  • I have been using colloidal oatmeal for the bath water and a "non-soap" bar of soap for the shower. Basically it's mineral oils in a bar form- no chemicals. I found these at Vitamin cottage. The "soap" is called Natural Beauty Cleansing Bar. It's been a life-saver for me. The itching can be unbearable- especially in heat. Good luck!
