Re: Tips for exclusively pumping for twins

  • Take a minute before you pumprelax, take some deep breaths and DROP YOUR SHOULDERS. I had a LC TELL me to do this and it significantly increased my supply. Something about carrying tension in your neck/back affecting milk let down.

  • Thanks! I'm exclusively pumping for my twins and I feel like I am washing pump parts nonstop! I didn't know that you could store in the fridge during the day without washing. Do you just rinse and store in a ziplock?

  • Great tips!! I also pump and bottle feed at the same time to save time....and keep at least one baby preoccupied...

I had to pump like crazy -- like 6-7 hours a day for nearly three months to get my supply up to 50oz a day. Now that I'm there, I only pump 20mins 7x a day (going no longer than 4 hrs between sessions overnight) -- and my supply has stayed at that level.

Oatmeal, water intake, fenugreek, etc didn't really do a thing for me -- just pumping like a crazy person. :)

Yeap! Rinse and store in a ziplock. I know some moms don't even rinse since milk can be stored in the fridge safely - same concept.

Thank you for these tips! I had no idea about the refrigerator thing! And Robin- thanks for this tip. I have a miserable milk supply, but I was able to get a bit more by dropping my shoulders last night! I can only ever pump around 10 oz, but every little drop helps =)
