Unreasonably frustrated with DH

He is sleeping. That is all. I haven't slept more than an hour at a time in weeks, but he is snoring away.

    Not alone at all.

Mine says he feels bad, so asked me to wake him during the night to help out. I asked him to change a diaper at 5am and his sleepy response was, "Does she really need it changed again right now?" Jerk.

I probably would have said something to the effect of, "No, she's faking."   *eye roll*

  • I would be frustrated too :. DH did that most nights we were in the hospital, and I was so sore from my csection it was really hard for me to get up and get diapers and wipes, etc. but he can sleep through almost anything, including me repeatedly calling his name. Fortunately it's better now that we are home.

I hope you are able to talk with him and work something out for night time. DH and I do 2 to 3 hour shifts of baby care so one of us can sleep. Of course, last night LO was fussy and refused to sleep until the end of my shift, and then he slept for DH's entire watch. Silly baby.

Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
  • DH got up with me the first week (I would wake him, because I needed the help at the beginning when I was BFing).  By the end of the week, I just left him alone... It was more work waking him up!  I waited until DS was 4 weeks, and then started pumping and having DH give him a bottle around 11:30 at night. DS has been really gassy that time of night, so DH has had to deal with that and only getting 5-6 hours of sleep. I told him if he tells me he is tired again, that I will be the crazy lady on the news who killed her husband!  If I slept 5 hours I would probably have enough energy for days.

  •  I am EBF and I just hate it when DH says he is tired. Or better yet, one day he said I was still getting used to the same sleep deprivation that he is because he works two days and two nights each shift... Ummm... Excuse me? He has been super helpful running errands and doing chores. Yesterday he washed the floors in our house for the first time (been living here for a year and a half) and I am so grateful... But I would be even happier if he learned how to soothe his son to sleep....

  • I feel rather blessed. My hubby helps out a bunch. I still do a majority of the night time care, but hubby usually gives me a few hours of uninterrupted sleep in the early morning hours. Plus he knows he's taking a brunt of the night shift when I go back to work. I need to be alert for my job.
