Birth stories or just a little advice

Is there any place for twin birth stories or can you ladies share some?

I was sent to L&D Monday after my NST due to contractions being 1 to 5 minutes apart. Come to find out I'm 2.5 cm dilated. I was sent home Tuesday because nothing had changed. On Thursday I had a follow up with the ob and still 2.5cm dilated but she can feel baby A's head. I had a little cramping this morning but nothing since. the pressure down low is just horrible.

Does it sound like I could go soon? I've had a feeling I'm not going to make it much longer but I have no idea what to look for since I'm still contracting and I honestly have no idea if I still have my plug or not. Sounds silly I know. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Any help is greatly appreciated!  :)

  • Everyone really is different. But if it helps any, at 36w I was 3cm and Ben's head was right there pushing on my cervix. I was induced at 37w1d and was still 3cm even though Ben hadn't moved that entire week. So even with constant pressure, you may not dilate anymore for a while yet. It all depends on your body and nobody knows except your body.

It look like from you ticker you have a few weeks left. If it feels like your contractions are picking up or getting stronger, try laying down and drinking more water. When in doubt, call your dr. and head to L&D. No sense in taking chances.

Hang in there, you are almost to the end!!!!

  • Every person and every pg is different. My OB said when I was having some scares around 29 weeks that it could even be my norm, just they never would have tracked it so closely for my singles. Hang in there, keep your feet up, and stay hydrated!

  • Like all the PP has said, every pregnancy is different and I 2nd the notion of listening to your body.  Our birth story is very similar.  I was 3cm dilated at 33w6d and was contracting every 5 min, according to the NST, although I was not feeling my contractions.  My dr put me on modified bedrest and we hoped for a few more weeks.  Well, only 5 short days later, I woke up feeling "off."  I was not contracting (or what I would've called contractions).  I also had a little more fluid or mucous in my underwear when I woke up that morning.  I was afraid it was amniotic fluid, so I called my doctor to see what she thought.  She had me come in "just in case."  Well, the good news was it was only cervical mucous.  The bad news:  I was now 6cm dilated (without knowing it!) and Baby A had flipped!  My doctor got kicked by baby A when checking!  Needless to say I was sent to the hospital and our girls were born 2 hours later via c-section at 34w4d.  Talk about a whirlwind.  My doctor said it was a good thing I didn't wait until I was feeling contractions..I may not have made it.  Moral of the story--listen to your body and call if you have even the slightest concern. You never know.  By your siggy it looks like you're already 35 weeks so you should be okay whenever you go.  Good luck!

  • Thanks ladies! :) I know everyone is different and so is every pregnancy. I'm just really confused right now. I'm having contractions quite often but then again I was sent home while having contractions. I'm not seeing the OB until Thursday afternoon. I think I'm just scared that I won't know when the right time is to go in. Everyone says you will know but I guess having never been in this spot before I keep second guessing that. I've been cramping more today and last night so that makes me wonder as well. Ahhh I feel like a crazy woman! If nothing else I'll sit here and wait until my water breaks. Not sure what else to do.

Can someone be 2.5cm dilated and still have their mucus plug? Is this something I should be watching for?
