Alexandra made her grand entrance at 6:10pm on February 14. I was scheduled for induction at 10pm 14 Feb. The night before at 7:00 my water broke. I didn't have contractions for about 5 hours so I labored at home and arrived at the hospital at 5:00pm with moderate contractions every 5-6 min. I was 5cm when I arrived--what a relief! After getting settled I decided to walk for an hour to get things moving. Oddly after walking my contractions almost went away. About 3 hours later I decided to walk again because the contractions were only 20 min apart. Another bad choice--this time the contractions went away completely and didn't come back.
My dr. suggested Pitocin, but that I get an epi first because I was so dilated the contractions might get intense. We did this and two hours later they checked me and I was 7cm fully effaced. An hour later I was at 10cm station +2. The nurse had me do a practice push and she started crowning! The had me stop until the dr arrived. Literally three pushes and she was out! We've had some problems with breast feeding and I'm using a latch assist now bc I have inverted nipples. My milk came in yesterday though so at least things are progressing!
