Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Inhaler

My baby is 6 1/2 months old... His pediatrician prescribed him xopenex (inhaler) and said to use it twice a day! Have any of you had to use this or any other kind of inhaler? She refered us to a pulmanory doctor also because I want a second opinion before I start giving my baby an inhaler!

Thanks!!!

Re: Inhaler

  • What did they give him an inhaler for? My daughter was on albuterol but the liquid form 3 times a day for chronic bronchiolitis.  They say it's too early to call it asthma since she can grow out of it.

  • She says signs of asthma but like I said, she automatically put him on it without "diagnosing" him with anything really....... She said his respiratory rate is fast. Well ya, when he's hyper and moving around like crazy!!! That's why I'm getting a second opinion and from a doctor who only practices in this field!
  • Yeh, I definitely would if I were you!  There are a lot more tests a specialist can do.  Good luck!

  • I would get second opinion. Is you baby weezing or having difficulty breathing? My older son has asthma. He first had broncilitis (sp?) as an infant, then each time he would get a cold he would have trouble breathing. The Pedi gave us a nebulizer treatment for him.

They first now gave him an inhaler now that he is older, he's 6, but before that we used a nebulizer treatment.
