TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Fert Report Is In

The embryologist called and of the 30 eggs 21 were mature.  They were inseminated using ICSI. 16 fertilized. I am amazed at this number, I was expecting less.   They will biopsy them on day 5 so I know the number could decrease but I am hoping it will only decrease by a few since the PGS will also remove any bad candidates.

They will call us again on Monday with an update on how our embies are progressing. Thanks for letting me AW all of this.

Woohoo, that's great news! Grow, embabies, grow!

May I ask what you're testing for with the PGD?

We are doing PGS not PGD.  PGD tests for known genetic disorders that you and your spouse may be carriers of. We do not have a known disorder.  My DH has a chronic illness (MS) and he takes a lot of medicines.  It's not hereditary so they wouldn't be able to tell with PGD.

With PGS they test for chromosome abnormalities.  They will test all 24 chromosomes to make sure there is nothing wrong before the implantation. Since all the testing I've done hasn't given us a clue as to why I can't carry full term we decided to have the embies tested this time.  Also I just turned 42 last month and with DH's illness we decided the testing is needed to remove any doubts.

We are hoping that it will give us that little extra push to have another successful pregnancy.  I hope I explained that ok. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

thanks so much for the explanation! I just had a lecture on PGD last week and my mind read PGS as PGD, sorry! I've actually never heard of PGS though so thank you for all that info. GL tomorrow!
