My daughter, Irene Caitlin, arrived on November 12 @ 3:40 PM CST via an induced labor. From what I can ascertain from descriptions of induced labors, mine went very well. I was shown to my room at 7:40 AM and had my IV line put in. I had two bags of antibiotics (though I don't know why, as I was GBS negative) before my pitocin was administered. Once that kicked in I went from 4 cm to 7 cm and started contracting (not too bad, at this point). Then the doc came in around 11:30 AM to break my water and from there things escalated at a fair clip! I began having intense contractions and asked for relief around noon or so. I was given pain medication which made me very drowsy but didn't cut the pain at all. I received the epi around 2:30 PM and felt wonderful. The nurse checked me again at 3:00 PM and just like that I had progressed to 10 cm and it was time to push. I started pushing at 3:10 PM and at 3:40 my baby girl made her appearance. She weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 20 inches long. She has been the light of my life ever since.
Re: My birth story.
Wow, thank u for sharing your story. I might be induced because of high bp so it's good to hear your story and how great it went. Can I ask why u were induced and how far along u were? Also, is this your 1st? Just wondering ...
Thanks!
I was induced because I was already 3-4 cm dialated, my cervix was pretty much gone (as in completely softened), and I was more than 30 minutes from the hospital. As it turns out, my doc called it right. If I had gone into labor at home, I might not have made it to the hospital in time. Good luck with your induction. I hope it goes well for you.
Thanks!
We wanted to give her a name no one else in the family had. I think we did it.
Thank you.
That's about where I was before I was induced. I was between 3 & 4 cm dialated and my cervix was already super soft, not to mention I had been having some contractions. I don't know if it made for an easier induction or not, but it couldn't have hurt!
