Success after IF

Shrieking

LO has started making this very shrill shrieking noise. The sound is like nails on a chalkboard. I swear, it could be recorded, played on a loop and used as a torture device at Guantanomo Bay to break terrorists.

And LO makies it all.the.time. When he is happy. When he is mad. When he is sad. When he is excited. I'm guessing he has figured out how to make this new sound and is so excited about making it that he does it repeatedly and loudly.

Anyone else's LO do this?  Please tell me it stops.

Re: Shrieking

  • Maren hasn't started anything like that - yet.  Right now she just cries when she's hungry or wet.

I hate to be the mom who says "just wait" but just wait.  Yes, this will pass but then it will be something else like the 18 month I can't yet verbalize what I want and I'm getting my molars so I'll scream and cry about everything non-stop period.  Or the four-year-old I'm always fighting with my brother period or the six-year-old I can't stop asking "what happens next" stage.  There's always something!

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

Yes, this! Shrieking, blowing raspberries, whatever new sound they learn to make, they will do it ALL THE TIME until they move on to the next one!

  • DS1 does it. He seems to think it is the greatest sound in the world. I remember hearing other babies shrieking in public and wishing my LO wouldn't get that gene. I can't figure out who it bothers more, me or his brother.
