What is average? Did any of you ladies have a "growth spurt" where you gained quite a few pounds in one month? Just had my 28 week appt yesterday- I have gained 7 pounds in one month...is this typical?
Overall have gained 21 pounds- will be 29 weeks on Tuesday. What is average?
Re: Weight Gain...
With this one, i'm onl up 20. So i'm hoping to end up around 28.
I'm trying to stay away from the ice cream this time around!
I gained 8 lbs in the last 6 weeks. When I saw the number on the scale a few days ago my jaw hit the floor.
I totally understand:(

New Mommy since 4/3/13
I've gained 24 so far at 32 weeks. I only gained 25 with DD#1 but I had GD with her, so that probably had an impact. I'm gaining more as this pregnancy goes on and it is annoying, mostly because it's still all belly and my clothes won't fit, including shirts & pants I wore the entire pregnancy with DD#1. Partially could be how I'm carrying but I feel like I'm already 9 mos. along with how big I am.
I've decided my body just does whatever it wants regardless of what I eat. Some months/weeks, I eat a ton and gain nothing and then the next week I'll gain a bunch and feel like I didn't eat all that much. I don't tend to gain much in pregnancy in general, but when I gain, it's random- rather than a steady gain.
With DS I gained 14 lbs total (they wanted me to get to 25ish)
This time I've gained 13 lbs as of my 32 week appointment. I am guessing I'll hit 320 lbs this time, but who knows.
First tri: lost 10lbs
Second tri: gained back 6lbs
Third tri: first month, gained 1lb, second month, 2lbs, this month (not even over yet) I gained 12lbs! !!
Conclusion: It packs on at the end!
I have gained 40 pounds 31 weeks. I was pretty lean and thin before. i'm just letting pregnancy do its thing.

^^ This.
Every woman is different and every pregnancy is different. The women on my side of the family have always typically gained a lot of weight during pregnancy so I'm not worried overly much about how much I gain as long as my OB isn't concerned. I had an appt at 31 weeks (1/24) and had gained 25.1 lbs total. At my 34 week appt (2/14) I have now gained a total of 33.9 lbs.
Personally I would like to gain no more than 40 lbs total, but I've been told to drop back on my exercise some since they can already feel baby's head when they checked my cervix and don't want me to risk starting to dilate before 37w.
It is totally normal for weight gain to vary. With DS I didn't gain any weight until week 25 and then my overall gain was 15 pounds which I put on between week 26-40. This time around I had gained 20 lbs. by week 25 and it has come to a screeching halt. I am still at 22 lbs. 31 weeks with these twins.
ETA: I started at a normal weight.
It really is different for everyone. It depends on your pre-pregnancy weight and your height.
I like to use this chart to see if I'm on track:

So far I've been right around average.
