So I have a question, I feel like I should know the answer but I'm not certain.
So Hannah has been EBF for almost 3 days now, whoo hoo. And I want to start building up a stash of expressed milk for the freezer for date nights etc. Here's my question, how do you pump effectively while breast feeding? I've pumped a few times and one of two things happens
1. Either I pump after she eats and I get next to nothing
2. Or we basically skip a feed, pump a bunch and then she needs to eat it cuz my boobs are empty.
I still haven't figured out when to pump, help please

Start with one pump a day. Do it at the same time every day to give your body the message that you need more milk at that time. Prolactin levels are highest early on the morning, so I would recommend pumping once a day after your first morning feed. As your supply gets higher, you may be able to pump one side while she eats off the other, but my supply was never high enough for that. Pumping while nursing full time, you should only expect to get .5 to 2 oz total, so go easy on yourself. You have plenty of time. Just keep refrigerating what you pump until you get enough to freeze. I started out freezing 3 oz. portions then went up to 4. You can combine milk that's the same temp, so refrigerate it all before combining. Once you are doing good with the one pump a day, and she starts getting into a routine at night, you can start pumping after she goes to bed. Taking a shower after you feed her but before you pump helps for some reason. GL and congrats again. I am SO proud of you and Hannah.

Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!

After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
Me-36, Unexplained Infertility, DH-35, all clear
Clomid 50mg 12/2011 = BFN
Clomid 100mg 1/2012 = BFN, with Cyst
IVF #1 Lupron/Menopur/Gonal-f/HCG Trigger
ER 4/19/12 = 11 retrieved, 6 fertilized,
ET 4/22/12 = 2 transfered (day 3), remaining 3 weren't good enough to freeze
Beta 5/3 = BFP, 87 Beta #2 5/7 560.9 Beta #3 5/9 1376.5 First u/s One Baby, 125bpm!
Second u/s, 176bmp! Kicked over to the OB by the RE at 8w. Team Green!!

#1 IVF/ICSI 4/2/12 = 2 x 7-cell and 1 x 5-cell transferred (3dt) = BFP!!
H was born at 41w2d on 12/29/12 - be still my heart!
#2 IVF/ICSI 1/19/14 = 2 x 8 cells transferred (3dt) = BFP!! EDD 10/09/14
M&W born at 37 weeks on 9/18/14 - I am the momma of 3 boys!!!
