Weight gain and twins

Hi ladies, I'm sure this question gets asked all the time so please forgive me....but I'm 12 weeks 2 days with twins and have not gained any weight. i lost two lbs. a few weeks ago due to morning sickness but my appetite is back for the most part and I'm up to my pre-pregnancy weight.

Is this normal? I'm on the smaller side...5'3" and 118 lbs. I barely have a bump yet either. I'm just worried...my last appointment the twins looked great/measured right on track but that was 2 weeks ago and I don't go back for another 2 weeks... idle minds wander I guess. TIA!

I didn't gain much weight during first tri, either. And I didn't really look pregnant until 1820 weeks.

If your doctor isn't worried then you don't need to worry. I know that's easier said than done, though!

It took a while for me to gain too. I had horrible morning sickness that I finally controlled w meds around 14 wks. That's when I started gaining. I started at 112, lost two pounds and once I started gaining I gained fast. When I delivered at 26 wks I had gained 30 pounds. My dr and my dietician were ok w my weight gain. 12 weeks was right around when I started to get a little bump. I started wearing maternity jeans right around then but it was bc I was more comfortable not bc of a bump. I think I pretty much woke up one day bw 14 and 15 weeks and I had exploded! Lol

This. I have never gained during the first trimester and this pregnancy was no different. But at 28 weeks I am up 30ish pounds and right on track for where my OB wants me to be.

I lost a few pounds in 1st tri and only when the m/s eased did I start to gain. This is my 2nd (& 3rd), I'm already showing but it feels like it happened overnight somewhere in 13-ish weeks.

At my 13w visit, I had only gained 1 lb. I had pretty terrible m/s (throwing up 4x/day) and it seemed as if some of the weight I had gained during fertility treatments began to make its way to my belly. I started with a normal BMI and In the end, I gained 33 lbs. by the time I delivered at 36w. The dietician at my MFM's office was comfortable with that gain.

I only gained 36 lbs total, and by 21 weeks had only gained 1 lb. I didn't ever throw up while pregnant, I was super nauseous but I made myself eat because that some times made me feel better. If the babies look good and your doctor isn't worried about it, I would try not to stress (super hard I know!)

I wouldn't worry about the weigth gain; just eat well.

I hadn't gained anything til overnight at 12 weeks I gained 7lbs (not sure how) and am now up 10lbs total. I started at 105lbs and 5'5" so weight gain is a little more important being I was underweight.

I just saw my OB on Tuesday. I'm 20 weeks and 6 days today. I am up a whole womping 4 lbs. I'm 5'8 and boarderline over weight. I was 175 pre clomid (boarder line under weight I think) and gained 10 on clomid. Lost 10 the first tri and am SLOWLY gaining. I told all this to my doctor later in fear of being "yelled at" but he just laughed and said "I think 4 sounds great. No worries".

If the OB isn't concerned neither should you!

I wouldn't worry, I didn't start gaining weight or getting a bump until 16 weeks. I am also small framed - 5'3 and 102 lb pre pregnancy.

I agree with PPs. Especially if you were dealing with m/s, I wouldn't worry rightniw. I bet it will pick up.

I barely gained any in 1st tri and I was nowhere near gaining "20lb by 20w" like some books suggest (it was more like 7 or 8..) Try not to worry!

I didn't gain much in the first tri and was still able to gain 26 lbs by 24 weeks.

I gained 5lbs in the 1st trimester and measured 16-18wks at my 12 week visit. I think I was up 18-20lbs by 20wks. I tried to follow Dr. Luke's guidelines and I did great until the 3rd trimester (when she told me start gaining less, but I continued to gain at the same rate). I ended up gaining 45-48 total and lost 35lbs in the 1st 7 days postpartum!
