Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I'm losing my mind

For the past few weeks LO has been sleeping a 6 hour stretch followed by a 4 hour stretch. The past 3 nights she has been waking every hour or just simply not going to sleep.  She's not sleeping the days away and she's typically up a few hours before bedtime. I'm missing the sleep I was getting; someone please tell me this is just a short phase.

Re: I'm losing my mind

  • My DD typically does the same thing. Most nights she sleeps almost all night waking only once around 4am. But occasionally there are nights where she is up every hour or basically all night long. She wants to breastfeed the entire night. I haven't yet figured out why this happens though. So far I haven't come up with any sort of pattern. I can only guess that it is maybe a growth spurt.

  • A little after he turned two months old baby Z started doing that a few times a week. I don't know what it is, but when it happens he sleeps with me and we nurse all night pretty much.

I don't have any answers, but I'm suffering with you. I miss the easy days and nights and I hope this is just a phase.

    Good luck!

  • Are you eating chocolate? My hubby bought a box of chocolates last night after i ate some she didnt go to sleep as quick as normal. This morning I ate some more and for the life of me she wouldnt sleeeeeeeep!  Im blaming the caffein in it!
  • Good luck! DD started STTN when she was around 3 months. Then at 4 months she started waking up once a night to eat. For the past 2 weeks, she has been up anywhere's from 5-15 times a night since she got sick with a cold, cut her first two teeth and has a mild ear infection. The night before last I thought she was back to herself since she only woke up once but last night she was right back to it and woke up about 5 times. I am exhausted as I am also caring for a toddler at home so I know how you feel. Plus, I can't sleep when she sleeps because my toddler is usually awake. Anyways, I like you hope that this will end up being a phase. I never thought I would be dealing with this at 5 months since DD1 STTN beginning at 9 weeks and didn't stop.

  • Thanks for your responses. I'm starting to think she's just sick or not feeling well because she cried bloody murder anytime she was awake today. Anyways we got a good nap in so I feel ready to conquer another day of this, although I hope this was the last, lol.

lol. Girl, you have a 2 month old. It's completely normal.

Probably either a growth spurt or one of the wonder weeks. I hope your LO starts getting back to how she was sleeping soon!
