Belly Button fears

A quick question for you ladies about LO's belly buttons. How exactly are you making sure it stays clean?

I usually just wipe with washcloth when bathing the lil' guy, but remember when I was little my mom making me clean it out with a Q-tip and lotion.

Just curious how everyone is doing this. 

FWIW sorry if this is so random, just curious.

    D has/had a little belly button hernia so his stuck out for a long while. I just would pull it up a little bit and wash it with the washcloth. Now it is starting to sink in a bit and I just use the tip of the cloth to get into the fold.

    Haha, yup! I mean its clean from a bath twice a week... Guess I didn't think of it as a dirty place.

    He gets a bath every night, so I make sure to wash his tummy really well with soap and wash cloth. He gets lotioned after bath time, so I make sure his belly button is dry then apply lotion like normal.

    Not really anything special care wise I do.

    On a related note, I have a really deep belly button and I always wash it in the shower with soap. It pretty much became flat towards the end of my pregnancy (never popped out) and it was then that I noticed the bottom of it was gross. I used a q-tip and alcohol and spend like 20 minutes cleaning it. Goo.

    This has always been me too. Sad I clean all my other crevices well, y'all. I swear.
