You know how that Carnival ship had no electricity and was basically out to sea for days being pulled by a tugboat? I can't imagine being on there!!! Apparently there was sewage and grossness all around.
I went on one cruise, Carnival, at 6 months pregnant. Literally I made the pregnancy cut off by 2 days in order to be able to go (trip was planned months before I got pregnant). I would have died being in the situation those people and workers were in on that boat for days.
I don't think I will ever cruise again. I had fun, we were with a lot of family, but I didn't love it anyway.
Re: Carnival Cruise Ship
A comic I like that I follow on FB posted this morning something along the lines of "I think 1000 lawyers just pushed that Carnival ship into port." DH and I are both lawyers, and when we were talking about this last night, DH was arguing the same way. The I heard that one of the shuttles that Carnival hired to transport people once they got off the ship broke down. Those poor people, I couldn't imagine what conditions on that boat were like after 4 days.
I dislike cruises. I feel too constricted, being trapped on a boat like that. I've been twice, both were Carnival.
One was in high school with a friend and her family, and that was fun, only because we were 16, but had tons of freedom to be on our own since we were on a boat. The other was a couple of years ago, when 16 of us, all friends from college, planned a vacation together. That was a really convenient way for all of us to be able to travel together, but still be able to do our own thing or escape the group now and then. We had a blast because of the group, but I would lobby hard for a different kind of trip if we were to all try and travel together again.
The only way I would cruise again would be to Alaska or through the Panama Canal, which is a trip I've always wanted to do.
The only time I've ever been on a cruise, I had a great time....and then at the very end of the trip, the boiler room exploded and we had to evacuate the ship and several people DIED (all crew members).
Hearing about this Carnival cruise and other ill-fated cruises in the media (like that horrible one in Italy) does not make me eager to go on another cruise.
I will say that it was probably the most relaxing trip I've ever taken. It's like being transported to another era.
OMG! that's so sad
Poor grandma!! Glad shes ok now but man I would probably have nightmares. A refund and 500 bucks is not enough!
