Leaving our little bears?

We have not left our little bear with anyone yet. I'm just not ready! I know it's important to get out for us as parents and as a couple. I just don't know how and when I can do it! Ugh! Our 3 year wedding anniversary is in April so I keep thinking maybe I can do it then...
Have you ladies accomplished this yet? I'm thinking that when I'm ready I'll feel way more comfortable if whoever is watching him, comes to our house. I think I'm entitled to set the rules!

  • We've gone on a few movie dates, and DHs aunt took her for an afternoon so I could sleep.
The first time is a little hard, but its good for all of you!

  • We went on a date when S was three weeks old. We left him with my parents and went to a restaurant three blocks away. Now he's been at daycare a month, so it's not as bad leaving him.

We'll be waiting until our wedding night to leave him overnight.

  • I have LO in daycare and I was NOT ready. The first day was awful, by the end of the week it was routine. Maybe do a date night before then so you aren't all nervous etc on your anniversary?

That's a great idea! A practice run! Thanks!

  • On Thanksgiving he did an overnight at my parent's house because I needed sleep.

I left him here and there with my mom while I was on maternity leave to do quick errands or grocery shopping.

Now that I'm back at work my mom watches him at my house.

And he did on overnight at my inlaws when I was sick and my DH had to work the next morning.

  • We had to leave B with my ILs when he was 3wks and I was not ready. I balled my eyes out the entire day before we left. He now stays with my mom once a week and DH on the weekends while I work.

In all honesty, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It gets easier!

I agree with PPs about a (or a couple) trial runs. We haven't left B with anyone overnight yet but plan on going on a week long vacation next winter and doing this.

  • The first time DH and I went out together was when LO was a little over a month old. She stayed with my in laws but I was still anxious. I lasted about an hour before I called to check in. We texted back and forth while we were gone which helped. The 3 drinks I had also calmed my nerves. It's not easy but you can do it!

  • We've left P a few times to go to dinners and movies. Now he goes to the sitter every day when I go to work.

  • We had to leave B overnight 3 nights in a row while I was hospitalized for the 'worst case of mastitis they have seen'. We had to leave him on a whim with all of 30 minutes to prepare. And then we only saw him for like an hour each day for those 3 days. It was terrible because we had no way to prepare ourselves before hand. We haven't left him overnight since, but he gets babysat maybe two hours at a time every few weeks while I have appts and errands. It will get easier.
