Nanny to DC

Hi ladies.  I currently have a nanny watch my 7 month old in my home.  For a variety of reasons, we plan on switching him to daycare (in home or center, haven't decided) anytime between now and the end of the year.  Since we are flexible on when we make the switch, what age do you think is a good time so there are fewer transition issues?  The post below makes me think that sooner rather than later might be better.  Thanks for your insight!

  • Actually, something to think about is which class he'd be in if you do a center.  I wouldn't want to move my kiddo at 10 months into an infant room and then change 2 months later just as he adjusts, to a toddler room.  DS started at a center at 3 months but when the whole class transitioned to the toddler room at 12 months, it was a lot.  They didn't use highchairs anymore, had to sleep on mats instead of cribs, had to do 1 nap only (12-2ish) instead of 2 naps, had to be on a schedule, etc.
  • mine started at 6 months and 2 1/2, the baby was fine, DD was find the fist few days, had a real bad week, and has been good ever since.  I was surprised to see how long people said below it would take to adjust.  I guess you're better off as a baby or able to communicate
