XP: Crib - Potty training?

Ok moms and dads...My DD is 22 months.  She is showing signs of readiness for the big potty training day so I have 4 days off this weekend and am going to give the "3-Day" method a go.  My daycare is totally on board with helping! YAY!

However, my question lies in this...She is still in a crib. I mean she could easily wake us up to go potty at night but should i be moving her into a regular bed before potty training or how did you go about doing this? She is totally content sleeping in her crib and I sure wouldn't mind if she stayed in it for a while longer yet.  HELP!

Re: XP: Crib - Potty training?

  • Some kids do not potty train at night when they do during the day.  For most it takes longer to night train.

Our LO goes during the day but would never wake up at night to go right now.  She is still in her crib and has no interest in her big girl bed.

  • I kind of wondered about this as well. I want to keep LO in the crib as long as possible but we want to start introducing the potty.  I guess we'll work on daytime first and tackle nighttime later.

  • My child tells me she peed or pooped after the fact.  I guess better late than never!Stick out tongue  I sit her down on the potty but she has yet to do anything in it.  She thinks it's fun to sit on it.  Weird toddler...

  • Keep her in her crib for as long as possible.  Kids don't usually potty train at night until much, much later (it could be months or even years later).  Potty train during the day and use diapers or pull ups at night.

  • I'd focus on day training and keep her in the crib as long as you can. Most kids take a lot longer to night train. DS is 4 and is still in a pull-up at nght b/c he wakes up SOAKED every morning. Pedi said it's totally normal for kids to 5-6 before they get the nighttime down. We're currently potty training DD and I'm not even going to address nighttime until she's in the toddler bed (probably over the summer).
