For those on Glyburide...

Did you have any low readings at first? I'm on my second day of taking meds right before breakfast, but when I test after breakfast my levels have been 65 61. The rest of the day my numbers are within range. Would you suggest taking the meds later in the day or should I change what I eat for breakfast? I currently eat scrambled eggs with toast. Today I added a small glass of OJ, but it didn't seem to help.

Re: For those on Glyburide...

  • I am only on 1.25mg at bedtime for my fasting number.  I had one low (I woke up at 3am in a cold sweat and feeling very weak, my blood sugar was 57).  The nurse told me that I hadn't had enough protein with my bedtime snack.  Since I've upped my protein amount I haven't had any problems.  I'm not sure that your dose is too high since all of your other numbers are fine.  Try eating a different breakfast with more protein and maybe a little more carbs and see if that helps with your after breakfast number.
